The Importance Of Being Earnest

Wilde, Oscar: The Importance of Being Earnest

Well, what should I say about my next book written by Oscar Wilde? The Importance Of Being Earnest is another play, which includes many conspiracys. It’s a little bit more funny than Lady Windermere’s Fan and less philosophical than The Picture Of Dorian Gray. Did I like it?

The story of The Importance Of Being Earnest is very labyrinthine. Here’s the summary by Amazon: “The Importance of Being Earnest,” considered to be one of Oscar Wilde
best plays, is a comedic satire of Victorian England. It is the story
of Jack Worthing who lives in the country with his ward Cecily Cardew.
Jack invents a brother named Ernest so that he has an excuse to travel
to London to woo a woman, Gwendolen Fairfax. At the same time Jack’s
good friend, Algernon Moncrieff pretends to be Ernest so that he can
woo Jack’s ward, Cecily. A comedy of confusion is the result in Oscar
Wilde’s classic play.

Well, by the way, it’s a little bit more difficult to read as Lady Windermere’s Fan.
But I liked Wilde’s style and his words, his jokes and his critics. This play is actually Wilde’s most important play at all. And I have to admit, that I quite agree with this opinion. It’s hard to understand the story, but it’s really funny.

My Opinion

The Importance Of Being Earnest is a wonderful play. And it shows that Oscar Wilde. I’m happy that I’ve chosen “Oscar Wilde” as my special subject. The three books I’ve already read are wonderful. I like the books of the Victorian Era. Although I must admit, that The Picture Of Dorian Gray is better. The end of TIOBE comes too suddenly.
